SSC Recommends Reopening Pacific Islands Heritage Marine Monument to Commercial Fishing
Friday March 20, the Scientific and Statistical Committee (SSC) of the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council issued a statement recommending to reopen part of the Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument to commercial fishing citing the need to support US fishermen facing mounting pressure from larger foreign fleets.
