FDA Expands Cs-137 Detention to Indonesian Spice Supplier; Shrimp Recalls Continue
Radioactive shrimp recalls tied to an Indonesian supplier continued this week, as more companies removed products from shelves and updated recall notices.
At the same time, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated its Import Alert for Cs-137 contamination to include a second Indonesian firm, PT Natural Java Spice, alongside major shrimp exporter Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS Foods).
Import Alert 99-51 now subjects products from both suppliers—including shrimp, spices, flavors, and salts—to detention without physical examination (DWPE)...
