Japan's April Household Expenditure Survey: Seafood Spending up 3%, Tuna Purchases up 20%
According to the April household survey released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on June 6, total food expenditures increased 7% year-on-year to 89,487 yen ($615.30). Expenditures on seafood increased 3% to 5,889 yen ($40.49). Fresh seafood, salted and dried seafood, and surimi products all increased compared to the same month last year.
