University of Portsmouth Working on New Project to End 'Ghost Fishing'
Ghost gear – or fishing gear that is lost or abandoned at sea – can be dangerous to sea life and boats. Government agencies and organizations work throughout the year to find and retrieve ghost gear, but the University of Portsmouth is taking things one step further. Dr. Ben Drakeford, Senior Lecturer in Economics and Finance at the University of Portsmouth is the lead on a project called "Innovative Fishing Gear for Oceans" or INdIGO.
