Oceana Canada Says CFIA’s New Food Regulations Do Not Address Seafood Fraud

Last week the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced the introduction of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR). This new regulation replaces a long list of previous ones and was designed to “simplify and strengthen” rules for food in Canada. However, Oceana Canada says that CFIA “misses the boat on seafood traceability.”
