Silver Bay Seafoods signs deal to open squid processing facility in Ventura, California

Silver Bay Seafoods is bringing its high volume low cost packing model to California's squid industry.
According to Rob Zuanich, the managing director of Silver Bay, the company has closed on a purchase of a 4.6 acre lot at the corner of Transport and Donlon streets, in Ventura, California.
They plan to build a 40,000 - to 50,000 sq ft plant in the industrial area to process and freeze market squid.
Although Silver Bay processes mostly salmon, its customers now want squid, particularly those in China and Europe, Zuanich said.
