King Fishery Opens for Rest of Troll Quota

Each Southeast Alaska commercial troller can catch and keep up to 17 chinook salmon during the second retention period of the summer season that began today.
The “limited harvest fishery" for kings is taking place as trolling for coho and chum salmon carries on across the region.
The chinook fishery, which will continue for 10 days through Aug. 17, will be non-competitive because the Alaska Department of Fish and Game determined that too few fish remain in the trollers' treaty allocation for the usual competitive fishery in the August retention period...
