Four Weather Buoys on U.S. West Coast Targeted for Decommissioning
As part of a move to stay within its budget, the National Weather Service has targeted 11 weather buoys around the country for decommissioning. Four of those are on the West Coast.
In an email to marine networks, the NWS Medford, Oregon, office notified fishermen and processors this week that one buoy in particular, 46015, about 17 miles off Port Orford, was targeted for decommissioning. The Medford office is seeking public input by August 16.
