Fishery Damage by Marine Mammals Increased in Hokkaido to JPY 950 Million in 2021
Fishery damage caused by marine mammals such as Steller's sea lions and seals in Hokkaido reached 954.04 million yen ($6.51 million) in fiscal 2021 (April 2021 to March 2022). In recent years, the damage has decreased, but it increased by about 220 million yen ($1.5 million) from the previous year, Minato Shimbun reported.
