Study: Genetic Resistance to Tilapia Lake Virus Found in Certain Species
A team of scientists from the University of Edinburgh’s Roslin Institute, located in the United Kingdom and WorldFish found evidence that resistance to the deadly Tilapia Lake Virus (TiLV) is due to genetic differences between families of the fish.
Findings from this study could help protect stocks of tilapia, which is a key food source around the globe. In all, the University of Edinburgh said it provides $10 billion to the global economy.
