South American Fishmeal, Fish Oil Output Falls 49% as El Niño Weighs on Supply
Fishmeal and fish oil production in South America remained sharply below year-ago levels through July, with cumulative output down 49% year on year (YOY), as the ongoing El Niño weather pattern continued to affect fisheries, according to the latest report from the Marine Ingredients Organization (IFFO).
Peru and Chile recorded the largest production shortfalls, while lower output from African countries and Northern Europe added to the overall decline.
