Kroger Says It's Taking Tariff Hits for Grocery Shoppers

Kroger executives say the Cincinnati-based supermarket chain is trying to hold the line on passing along price increases to shoppers, which has included shouldering tariff-related costs.
Some food makers and restaurants say they're raising prices in response to tariffs, plus higher meat and coffee costs. Consumer prices were up 2.9% in August compared with a year earlier, up from July's increase of 2.7%, the Labor Department said Thursday.
