Across the coastal South, some states have laws requiring restaurants to tell customers where their seafood was caught or raised. But South Carolina is not one.
Restaurants and other food establishments in the Palmetto State don't have to disclose the source of the seafood they serve. A call for these requirements, known as labeling laws, was reignited by shrimpers and fishermen in the wake of "shrimp fraud" allegations in the Charleston-area.
