Alaska: Harbor, Spaceport, Fisheries on New Federal Wish List
The $10 million of federal funding to continue rebuilding St. Herman Harbor is back on the list of congressionally-directed spending requests.
The money — cut by the Trump Administration from the budget last year — is back in this year's version.
Congressionally-directed spending requests are the modern version of the old "pork barrel" system — in which the late Alaska Senator Ted Stevens excelled — that enables local municipalities and organizations to petition for federal funds through their Congressional delegations.
