Mount Pleasant Seafood Supplier's Boat Struck by Lightning
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A Lowcountry seafood supplier's boat was struck by lightning while offshore on Saturday, according to owners.
Abundant Seafood posted to social media saying that the strike happened while the Amy Marie was about 50 miles from shore.
While all crew members are reportedly okay, the boat lost all electronics and navigation.
"Mark [the restaurant's owner] said when the lightning struck, all the buttons on the VHF radio were physically blown off the unit," the post explained. "Color Machine, plotter, auto-pilot all gone."
