New Japanese Scallop Processing Plants Start Running One after Another, Aiming at Overseas Markets
Following Japan's release of treated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the Pacific Ocean, China has banned importing all Japanese seafood products since August 24, 2023. In September 2024, the Chinese and Japanese governments agreed to open negotiations toward lifting the import ban. The two governments negotiated on April 10, 2025, but the Chinese government has kept silent about when to lift the ban.
