Nature Conservancy’s Use of Satlink on Tuna Vessels Show EM Beats Logbooks

A new study commissioned by the Nature Conservancy on 15 tropical tuna longliners in the Western Pacific showed that electronic observation systems produce far more accurate data than logbooks, traditionally filled out by vessel captains. 

Also known as Electronic Monitoring or EM, these systems out-perform logbooks because they are able to be verified and reduce the chance of human errors in logbook recording.
