8.2 Earthquake Hits Alaska Peninsula, Largest Since 1964 9.2 Magnitude in Prince William Sound
Last night at 10:16 p.m. local time a 8.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded 75 miles off the south coast of the Alaska Peninsula. It is the second worse earthquake in Alaska’s recorded history, just one magnitude below the Good Friday earthquake in 1964 that ravaged much of Anchorage and triggered a tsunami that changed the topography of Prince William Sound. It is currently the second largest recorded earthquake in the world.
