Smuggling Crackdowns in China Contribute to Country's Seafood Imports Increase
In January, China’s customs cracked down on a smuggling case of frozen seafood that involved 2.68 billion yuan (~$400 million USD). In total, customs staffs in Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Dongxing, Zhangzhou and Haikou have broken up seven gangs consisting of 38 suspects and uncovered roughly 4,000 tons of frozen seafood like shrimps and squid.
