Oregon Readies Marketing Push on Dungeness Crab, as State Hopes Tests Show Crab is Safe to Eat

Widespread media coverage of delays in California recreational and commercial Dungeness crab seasons on the West Coast due to domoic acid levels have resulted in existing retailers and distributors losing sales.
But the seafood industry is going on the offensive: Trade associations are organizing public events to promote crab sales and assure the consumers the crab currently in stores is safe.
Some retailers in San Francisco, for example, notified their customers they will still have crab for the holidays, courtesy of crab being trucked in from Washington.
Crab from British Columbia also is not affected with high domoic acid levels....
