Jerzy Malek, the founder and former owner of Polish fish processor Morpol is planning to launch a new salmon processing company. In 2016, the businessman will see his three-year anti-competition clause expire, and this will allow Malek to set up a new industry player on the Polish Baltic Sea shore.
In December 2012, Norway’s salmon farmer Marine Harvest signed a deal with Malek to purchase 48.5% of the shares in Morpol. Following the deal, Malek stepped down as the company’s chief executive.
The Polish businessman is currently recruiting management for the designed firm, and last year, he launched construction works on a new fish processing facility in the country’s Slupska special economic zone (SSSE), in Poland’s northern, reports local business daily Puls Biznesu.
The new facility is to be fitted with an initial output capacity of at least 11,000 tonnes of salmon per year.
"Production at the plant has not been launched yet, but these plans remain in place," Malek said...
