The scallop harvest is coming in Xuejiadao of Huangdao district, a main scallop farming area in Qingdao. And in contrast to the bad situation of large output reduction and low prices two years ago, scallop farmers are quite positive about the market prospect this year. Some of the available scallops have been sold at 4.5 yuan/jin (9 yuan/kilo), which is a great increase compared with the price of 3 yuan/jin (6 yuan/kilo) last year and a dramatic one, considering that of 0.8 yuan/jin (1.6 yuan/kilo) two years ago.
However, the farmers have received orders from a large amount of traders throughout the country.
