Heather McCarty receives unanimous city council vote to be new Kodiak fisheries advisor

By unanimous vote at a special Tuesday night meeting, the Kodiak City Council approved lobbyist Heather McCarty of Juneau to be the joint Kodiak city and borough fishery adviser. The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly will have the final say on McCarty’s position at its Thursday night meeting.
The position is a two-year contract to represent the city and borough at powerful regulatory bodies like the North Pacific Fishery Management Council and the Alaska Board of Fisheries. It pays $30,000 per year in addition to expenses.
