Coastal Georgia has gained a well-deserved reputation for its Wild Georgia shrimp, but on the list of popular local seafood foods, clams quietly hold a steady spot.
Still, if Shannon Matzke, marine educator and public program coordinator with the UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant program, and MAREX Georgia Sea Grant Seafood Specialist Erin Arneson Purvis, had it their way, shrimp would be less "shelf-ish" and offer clams a more prominent seat at the table.
