La Niña Persists for Now, but El Niño Lurks in the Distance
Climate troublemaker La Niña will play an ongoing role in the weather here in the United States for the remainder of winter, government forecasters said in a new report released Jan. 8.
"We will continue to see the influence of La Niña through the winter," Michelle L'Heureux, a climate scientist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center, said in an email.
