2026 Pacific Halibut Catches Likely to Be Near Last Year’s Limits

The 2025 Pacific halibut fishery ended on December 7 and harvesters widely reported catches of fewer and smaller fish.
Stakeholders are dealing with fallout from the lowest Pacific halibut spawning biomass in 40 years. The annual survey conducted by the International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC) revealed little change in the halibut stock that stretches from Alaska’s northern Bering Sea to the Gulf of Alaska, along British Columbia and down the coast to California’s Monterey Bay.
