SNP Government Rules Out Fine After 75K Salmon Escape Into Highlands Waters

THE Scottish Government has ruled out a fine for a fish-farming giant after tens of thousands of salmon escaped into Highland waters.
Norwegian firm Mowi saw around 75,000 fish break out from its Gorsten fish farm into Loch Linnhe, on the west coast, amid the impact of Storm Amy last week.
Scottish Salmon Watch claimed that the escape could “precipitate an ‘extinction vortex’ in wild fish”, and joined Green MSP Ariane Burgess in calling for fines to be levied against Mowi...
