Trade Restrictions May Impact Eel Price, Availability in Japan
The European Union has proposed making all 19 eel species subject to trade regulations under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
If the proposal is approved at an international conference scheduled to start in November, the supply of imported eel, which lately has been available at relatively affordable prices, could be affected.
