Cultivated Seafood Edges Closer to UK Restaurant Menus
Cultivated meat and seafood could soon offer UK restaurants a new sustainable, premium dining option, according to Singapore-based food tech company Umami Bioworks, which hosted its first UK tasting of cultivated white fish and caviar earlier this week.
The company’s CEO Mihir Pershad told guests that cultivated products – made from real fish cells grown in bioreactors – present a “better, cleaner, faster” way to produce familiar foods without microplastics, heavy metals or animal slaughter. “There are better ways to make seafood dishes that people want to eat,” he said...
