Japan’s August Cold-Water Shrimp Imports from Russia Plummeted Due to Ukraine Conflicts
The Japanese Ministry of Finance recently announced that shrimp imports in August decreased by 4.7% from the previous year to 21,799 tons, while the value increased by 23.2% to 1,737 million yen ($11.83 million). The other frozen shrimp category, including farmed vannamei, decreased by 11.4% to 14,077 tons. In addition, imports of "frozen cold-water shrimp" from Russia have decreased sharply since the Ukraine crisis. Import prices are soaring, Suisan Keizai reported.
