Newly Introduced CLAW Act Aims to Offset Costs of Newly Required Lobster Equipment

Massachusetts Congressman Seth Moulton introduced the Conserving Lobstering and Whales (CLAW) Act of 2022 on May 27 which aims to provide a tax credit to lobstermen to offset the financial costs of required adaptive fishing gear.
The new requirements are part of the Atlantic Large Whale Take Reduction Plan (ALWTRP) regulations that went into effect on May 1.
