Mowi-Owned Northern Harvest Sea Farms Reports Mortality Event at Newfoundland Salmon Site
Northern Harvest Sea Farms (NHSF) reported an abnormal mortality event at its Deep Water Point site on November 30.
The Mowi subsidiary shared that the suspected cause of the mortalities was a combination of sea lice pressure, treatments and prolonged rough weather at the farm.
The site, Marine Site AQ# 1080 has about 709,000 Atlantic salmon being raised and mortality exceeded 10%, leading to the public notice. The fish at the site weigh about 1.1 kilograms.
