Judge Confirms Injunction in Jones Act Case; No Further Penalties for American Seafoods During Case

U.S. District Judge Sharon L. Gleason will not modify a preliminary injunction that has halted further fines from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to shipping companies affiliated with American Seafoods.
After Gleason ordered the preliminary injunction on October 10, the CBP urged the judge to reconsider, arguing the Court’s “overbroad injunction threatens to impair Defendants’ ability to ever collect penalties for likely violations of the Jones Act.”
