VIDEO: Attack on Sea Shepherd Vessels in Mexico’s Protected Vaquita Refuge Results in One Death
One man is dead after a violent attack on two Sea Shepherd vessels on New Year’s Eve.
According to the U.S. Conservationist group, their vessels the Farley Mowat and Sharpie were inside the Zero Tolerance Area of Mexico’s federally-protected Vaquita Refuge when a group of assailants in five to seven fishing boats launched a “violent attack” at approximately 7 a.m. At the time the Farley Mowat was removing illegal gillnets from the protected region, which is home to the critically endangered vaquita porpoise...
