Video Shows How Marine Life Interacts With Shellfish Farms
Researchers at NOAA Fisheries’ Northwest Fisheries Science Center are using underwater video equipment to see how marine life uses, and maybe even benefits, from shellfish farming.
Shellfish farming generates close to $100 million annually for the Northwest region, and prior to the pandemic provided close to 1,500 jobs. With shellfish farms occupying more than 25,000 acres in the Northwest, researchers wanted to learn more about how the farming practices being used are affecting marine life.
