ANALYSIS: January 2019 Tilapia Imports Down 40% Compared to Last Year
Total tilapia imports including fresh and frozen whole fish, and fresh and frozen fillets fell 53.2 percent collectively from the previous month, and 39.9 percent compared to January 2018.
Import data for tilapia frozen fillets totaled 16.4 million pounds for the month of January. This figure comes in 61.8 percent below December 2018 and 52.1 percent below the previous three-year average for the month.
