January Chinese Catfish Imports Lowest Ever Recorded
Imports for Chinese catfish frozen fillets totaled 590,983 pounds for the month of January, falling 73.5 percent from the previous month. Volumes spiked in September 2018, prior to the 10% tariff going into effect and again in December 2018, prior to the increased 25% tariff that was postponed until further notice. The influx of product during these months saw a subsequent drop in volume the following month, explaining the drastic drop in volume for this January.
