DFO Cuts Northern Cod Stewardship Fishery by 25%, to 9500 tons, Stakeholders Say too Little, or too Much

The Canadian Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans announced that the stewardship fishery on Northern Cod would be cut 25%, to 9500 tons this year. The cuts were seen as too drastic by the FFAW, and as too little by those who want to slow down harvests to allow a future larger stock.
In 2017, the fishery quota was set at 13,000 tons.
