There are four species of domestic crayfish in China, while the country also imports red swamp crayfish and Australian freshwater crayfish. Crayfish are mostly cultivated in the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River. About 95 percent have been from the five main aquaculture regions in 2016: Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hunan and Jiangxi.
