Change at the Top: Leaman Leaves IPHC, Welcomes New Director Dave Wilson

The end of an era was marked last week as the International Pacific Halibut Commission announced that Dr. David Wilson has become its seventh Executive Director.
Dr. Bruce Leaman handed over the reins after a month of orientation when Wilson was briefed on current research, process, and staff at the IPHC.
“I wish I’d had something like that, when I came to the Commission,” Leaman said. Leaman’s legacy of nearly 20 years at the IPHC includes putting the commission on a solid fiscal foundation after years of operating with uncertain revenues for research. He also oversaw a new way of presenting scientific data to decision-makers, hired a crack team of scientists and modelers in recent years, and created a college scholarship fund...
