White House Committee Identifies 16 Seafood Species "At-Risk" of IUU Fishing, Fraud

The White House's National Ocean Council Committee (NOC) published a list of 16 seafood species in the Federal Register on October 30 that it considers to be "at-risk" of IUU Fishing and seafood fraud.  A NOAA traceability program will be developed for these species. 

According to the NOC's post these species are deemed most in need of an action plan to eliminate IUU fishing and seafood fraud practices in their supply chains.  

"The Action Plan identifies actions that will strengthen enforcement, create and expand partnerships with state and local governments, industry, and nongovernmental organizations, and create a risk-based traceability program to track seafood from harvest to entry into U.S. commerce, including through the use of existing traceability mechanisms," the NOC said in the Federal Register...
