Higher Alaskan Pollock Surimi Production Offsets Further Declines in Japanese Supply in May

Alaska's combined "A" and "B" season pollock surimi production continues to trend upwards in 2015 as Japanese surimi inventories were able to improve between April and May even though the overall supply is still down compared to 2014 figures.
Latest figures from NMFS report a 6.2 percent increase in combined "A" and "B" season pollock surimi production to 121,405 tons over last year at this time...
The current average fish size at 400 grams is short of the initial forecast that had pegged the 2008 year-class fish to weigh between 600-800 grams...
