Albertsons said Friday Bob Miller, the company's executive chairman, will assume the additional role of chief executive officer as part of a new four-person office of the CEO as Robert Edwards moves from CEO into a new role as vice chairman.
The other executives in the office of the CEO will be Wayne Denningham, chief operating officer for all divisions; Justin Dye, chief administrative officer; and Shane Sampson, chief marketing and merchandising officer.
The office of the CEO will support day-to-day operations of the company’s 14 divisions and 2,200 stores.
Edwards, who was chairman and CEO of Safeway, was named Albertsons CEO when the two companies merged in January. In his new role as vice chairman, he will “provide counsel to the board and the organization on key strategic and integration matters," the company said.
