Norwegian Seafood Industry Braces for Total Ban on Salmon Imports into China

China suspended salmon importation from three Norwegian counties on March 23 but this is just a bitter foretaste, the Norwegian Seafood Council fears. In a number of weeks, all Norwegian salmon may have been shut out.
"It goes without saying that we must prepare ourselves for the worst and we have canceled 20 restaurant campaigns in China's three biggest cities in April," Sigmund Bjorgo, the Seafood Council's director for mainland China and Hong Kong said.
On 18 March the Chinese authorities gave notice of the complete suspension of imports of whole salmon with heads from Sor-Trondelag, Nordland and Troms from Monday 23 March.
