Salmon jumps herring as 2nd most popular seafood item in Germany as overall consumption fell in 2013

Germans ate less seafood in 2013, but did eat enough salmon to bump it up as the second most consumed seafood item in the country after Alaska pollock.
Data from FIZ, a German website that tracks per capita consumption data, found that per capita seafood consumption among Germans fell over seven percent from 2012 to 13.7 kg.
Though a minor increase in domestic production was recorded, German seafood imports were down over 8 percent to 1.7 million tons for the year...
