Sanctions may speed up smolt breeding facilty for Russia's Murmansk salmon farms

JSC "Russian Salmon" has started the construction of the first-in-Russia plant to produce its own smolt and fish feed. This business has already secured the support of the Murmansk regional government.
The CEO of the fish farming enterprise CSC "Baltiysky Bereg" Mikhail Bobrov says: "We discussed the allocation of land plots in the Murmansk region to build a smolt breeding factory so that we could completely abandon the import of planting material. And we are going to enhance our own production of fish feed.
The need for these facilities wasn't so acute before the recent EU sanctions, but on the other hand we now have the opportunity to create an independent fish farming industry in Russia."
