Chile starts project to try and reduce production costs for Galician mussel seeds

Chilean researchers will attempt to improve the cost to produce Galician mussel seeds through a $225 million project supported by the Catholic University of Holy Conception's InnovaChile, the Corporation for the Promotion of Production, the Institute of Fomento Pesquero and the Chilean company Galaico.
According to the project's lead research Victor Faúndez, the market for Galician mussels has grown and gives Chilean farmers another aquaculture option.
He hopes to be able to mass produce the seeds for the industry. The project has initial funding for 33 months...
