Russia to tighten domestic controls on fish prices

The Russian government plans to significantly tighthen control over the pricing in the domestic fishing market, according to Ilya Shestakov, head of Russian Rosrybolovstvo.
As part of these plans, monthly data of change of prices for fish and seafood in different regions of Russia will be regularly updated on Rosrybolovstvo’s website. The government has also not ruled out the possibility to require domestic fishing companies to publish price lists for their products on their websites.
So far, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has already started monitoring fish prices in national retail chains, however, it is believed that implementation of only such measures will be insufficient.
