Vancouver chef cycles across Canada hosting dinners to promote sustainable seafood

Top Vancouver chef Ned Bell left St. John's, Newfoundland, on July 1 to cycle across Canada to raise awareness about sustainable seafood. He's cycling 125 to 175 kilometres a day and holding dinners in 20 Canadian cities. He reached Ottawa on Monday, four weeks into his 11-week trip, where he teamed up with recent Top Chef Canada winner Rene Rodriguez to cook a meal at Rodriguez's Murray Street restaurant Navarra. Laura Robin caught up with Bell and Rodriguez to find out more.
Q: Why are you doing this?
Bell: "My big, hairy audacious goal is to have sustainable seafood available to every Canadian within a decade."
Q: How do you hope to achieve this?
Bell: "I'm lucky to have such a great network of peers, some of the best chefs across Canada - guys like Rene. These 20 dinners will start spreading awareness, and the chefs will continue to educating the guests. Next year, I hope to hold six bigger events."
Q: How did the Navarra dinner come about?
Rodriguez: "Ned and I know each other from working together for six years. We started planning this dinner a week ago
