EMS spreads north in China, impacting Ningbo, a new farming area south of Shanghai

The shrimp farmers in Ningbo have been extremely anxious since the beginning of this March, because a large number of their whiteleg shrimps turned out dead shortly after the seedlings had been stocked in the ponds.
So Huang Jie, a leading expert in the prevention and treatment of shrimp diseases, has been invited for a consultation on this situation by Ningbo Ocean and Fishery Bureau (NOFB). And after the research, Huang comes to the conclusion that this results from the northward movement of the prevalent 'steal dead shrimp disease', a Chinese name for EMS or Early Mortality Syndrome, that has occurred in the South China a few years ago.
